Need to get money out fast? SDFCU can move money across the country or around the world quickly, reliably, and securely through wire transfers.
You can complete a wire transfer by phone, fax, or email. Our fax number is 703-706-5001. The fee for wire transfers is $20.*
Please note that if you would like to complete a wire transfer by phone, you will need your account password (This is verification of your account and acts as your signature). For wire transfers of $3,000 and over, the full physical mailing address for the recipient is required and wire transfer requests for any third party for $10,000.00 and over must be faxed to include your
signature.

A Wire Transfer Request Form must be signed and completed before an outgoing wire transfer can be initiated. If you are sending a US Dollar transfer internationally, please contact the overseas bank to obtain their US Corresponding Bank* information.
The following information is required to complete an outgoing wire transfer:
*Correspondent bank is a US bank that the overseas bank has a relationship with in order to send US dollars overseas (REQUIRED for all overseas $ transfers)
A Foreign Currency Wire Form must be signed and completed before an outgoing wire can be initiated.
The following information is required to complete an outgoing wire transfer:
- Type of Foreign Currency
- Amount
- Name of Bank
- Complete Address of Bank
- Name of Beneficiary
- Complete Address of Beneficiary
- Account Number of Beneficiary
- IBAN or additional information may be required depending on country
- E-mail Address of Beneficiary
- E-mail Address of Member
Outgoing wire transfer requests must be received by 2pm EST in order to be processed the same business day. Requests received after that time will be processed the next business day. Domestic Wire Transfers usually post to the account within 24 hours. International Wire Transfers can take 3-10 business days to process.
All incoming wires to accounts at SDFCU must be sent with the following information:
- State Department Federal Credit Union
1630 King Street; Alexandria, VA 22314
- SDFCU Routing Number: 2560-7534-2
- Member Name
- Member Account Number
- Complete Mailing Address
- Originator's Name
Incoming wires received by 2pm EST will be credited the same day. Wires received after that time will be processed on the next business day.
