How to Dispute a Credit Card Purchase Do you want to dispute a charge on your recent statement? First, you do need to make a real effort at resolving the dispute with the merchant before you can ask SDFCU to stop payment. By speaking with a manager or supervisor, you can usually resolve any problems. Be sure to keep records of each conversation. If the merchant won't budge, put your complaint in writing. Outline the dispute in a short, detailed letter to the merchant and send it certified mail.
